That is the question… for the Millennials this is the question on the tip of their fingertips probably on a daily basis. But now it seems any group of people, be it Gen-Y, Gen-X and so on are bound to succumb to this new virtual world. This appeals to many as the vital communication tool to use in this current day and age. Even my lazy self will either send a text, tag one of my children, snapchat the husband, post an instastory or send a facebook message to have them come hither or do something for me whilst in the same house within meters of one another. I believe it saves me yelling and losing my voice and among other things I can dress it up with an amazing filter that make me looks like Miss Universe (well probably not Miss Universe but that make-up foundation is usually on point in those snapchat filters)…you feel me right?

So the convenience of these apps causes our lives to become somewhat lost in the cyber world of communication. Twitter as a communication tool gives humans the opportunity to express their current thoughts with only 140 characters. Seems tough if you’re one to blog away but for others it’s the perfect way of stating ‘facts’ quickly and simply. Everything from talking about what you ate for an afternoon snack, to the latest beef between hip-hop rappers, to President №45 going on about something or other! Plus the added bonus of hashtags and re-tweeting makes this twitter gadget pretty useful for ‘spreading the word’!

So where has this twitter journey taken us too? On a more useful level it has become vital for even Fortune 500 companies.

“Studies show that even Fortune 500 companies use the popular social network site Twitter to facilitate dialogic communication with stakeholders. Results indicated that organisations that have a dialogic orientation to Twitter use (61%) employed the principle of conservation of visitors to a greater degree and generation of return visits to a lesser degree than organisations with a non-dialogic orientation to Twitter (39%).”

So all in all from someone as myself that only uses Facebook and Instagram (and snapchat here and there) to be suddenly thrown in the deep end of creating a Twitter account for a Uni assignment, I am still eager to explore the world of this twitter thing. You know the saying, ”If you can’t beat them, join them” well that’s where I am…now if they only added some icon for filters on the pics! LoL!
